Giulio Nicolini

Giulio Nicolini (born July 7, 1926 in San Vigilio , Concesio , Italy ; † June 19, 2001 ) was an Italian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Cremona .

Life

Giulio Nicolini received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Lugano on March 29, 1952 .

After his ordination he worked in the Italian pastoral care in Switzerland, as a spiritual guide for the Catholic Action and as a teacher. From 1972 he worked in Rome, first as an employee of the Pontifical Commission for the Pastoral Care of Migrants , later as an employee of the Congregation for Bishops and finally as Deputy Director of the Press Office of the Holy See .

On July 16, 1987, Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Alba . The Pope personally donated to him on 5 September of the same year in St. Peter's Basilica , the episcopal ordination . Co- consecrators were Archbishop Eduardo Martínez Somalo and the Bishop of Angers , Jean Orchampt . The inauguration in the diocese of Alba took place on September 27, 1987.

On February 16, 1993, Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Cremona. The inauguration took place on April 4th of the same year.

During his term of office, the commemorative year of the holy Homobonus of Cremona , the city patron of the episcopal city fell. He paid particular attention to the restoration of the Cremona Cathedral and the preparation and celebration of the Holy Year 2000 .

His grave is in the crypt of the Cathedral of Cremona.
