Julius Perotti , also Giulio Perotti , born Julius Prott , (born March 13, 1841 in Ueckermünde , † February 28, 1901 in Milan ) was a German opera singer (tenor) and rose breeder .

Life

Julius Prott, who came from a humble background, received his apprenticeship from a Stettin merchant. His uncle recognized his musical talent and encouraged him. After he was able to attend the Stern Conservatory under Karl Gustav Berndal in Berlin, he continued his training with Pietro Ramini in Florence , Francesco Lamperti in Milan , Giovanni Corsi and Deck-Servani in Italy and Gustave Roger in Paris away.

He made his debut at the Opera House in Breslau in 1863. His career as an opera singer took him to all the major stages in Germany, Europe and North and South America: Milan, Turin, Genoa, Florence, Rome, New York, Boston, Chicago, Montevideo and Buenos Aires. Back in Europe, he performed in Madrid, London, Moscow, Constantinople etc. From 1866 to 1868 he was a member of the Imperial Opera in Vienna. It was not until 1892 that he settled in Budapest, where he was a member of the Royal Opera until 1900, after having been a member of the Royal Opera from 1878 to 1888.

Since 1879 he owned a gardening company in Trieste and grew internationally recognized rose cultures.

He also appeared several times on the largest stages in North America . As a hero tenor , he developed his most important artistic achievements. These included Siegmund and Siegfried in the Ring of the Nibelung , Rienzi and Tannhäuser by Richard Wagner , Arnoldo in Gioachino Rossini's Wilhelm Tell and Raoul in the Huguenots by Giacomo Meyerbeer .
