Giuseppe Arzilli (politician, 1941)

Giuseppe Arzilli (born February 20, 1941 in San Marino ) is a San Marino politician. He has already been one of the two Capitani Reggenti (heads of state) of San Marino three times and is currently his country's ambassador to Switzerland.

Arzilli is the owner of a jewelry store in San Marino. He was chairman of the Unione Sammarinese Commercianti (USC) for 22 years. From 1996 to 2002 he was chairman of Società Unione Mutuo Soccorso (SUMS), of which he is still a member.

Arzilli joined the Partito Democratico Cristiano Sammarinese (PDCS) in 1955 . From 1974 to 2006 he was a member of the San Marinese parliament for the Consiglio Grande e Generale . He was a member of the Foreign and Justice Committee. From 1997 to 2006 he was the representative of San Marino in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe . In the parliamentary elections in 2006, he failed to enter parliament. He only reached number 33 on the PDCS list, which won 21 seats. In March 2007, Arzilli resigned from the PDCS. Arzilli served three times - from October 1986 to April 1987, from October 1999 to April 2000 and most recently from October 2004 to April 2005 - as Capitano Reggente , head of state of San Marino.

From 2007 to 2015, Arzilli was San Marino's Ambassador to Switzerland.

Arzilli is widowed and has two sons - Michele and Marco , who has been Minister for Industry since 2012.
