Gjergj Meta (born April 30, 1976 in Durrës , Albania ) is an Albanian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Rrëshen .

Life

Gjergj Meta went to Bari in 1994 and completed a preparatory year there before studying at the Molfetta seminary from 1995 to 2000 . On April 21, 2001, he received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of Durrës-Tirana . There he became a member of the diocesan council of priests in the same year and headed the university pastoral care between 2003 and 2006. In 2009 Meta obtained a licentiate in theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome and then became the spokesman for the Albanian Bishops' Conference , which he remained until 2012. Since 2016 he has been Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Tirana-Durrës.

On June 15, 2017, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Rrëshen. The Archbishop of Tirana-Durrës , George Anthony Frendo OP , donated him episcopal consecration on September 2nd of the same year; Co -consecrators were Archbishop Charles John Brown , Apostolic Nuncio in Albania , and Cristoforo Palmieri CM, Former Bishop of Rrëshen. He chose FEJA VEPRON ME DASHURI as the episcopal motto .
