Glanhofen is a village and a cadastral municipality in the municipality of Feldkirchen in Carinthia with 279 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020).
history
In the village is the parish church consecrated to St. Lawrence, which was first mentioned as a parish church between 1065 and 1068. Around 1851 a fire destroyed the church. It was then largely rebuilt. Today it serves as the parish church of the Glanhofen parish.
Until 1973 Glanhofen was an independent municipality. At that time it was incorporated into the municipality of Feldkirchen and today forms the Feldkirchen district in Carinthia with 11 other cadastral communities .

Glanhofen is located 4 km south-west of Feldkirchen in Carinthia . Furthermore, the mountain "Hoher Gallin" is 1049 meters high south of the village. The Ossiacher Tauern are also located near Glanhofen . To the north-west of Glanhofen, the lead moor and the Ossiacher See extend .
Culture and sights
One of the places of interest in the village is the parish church of Glanhofen . A little further north-west of the village is the Prägrad castle ruin . Every two years the spring festival in favor of the Carinthian Children's Cancer Aid takes place at the village square in Glanhofen. The Advent campaign in the village, which takes place alternately in St. Nikolai and Glanhofen, is another attraction that Glanhofen offers. In addition, a junction near Glanhofen was the location of the film "Reverend turns a blind eye." (1971)

Origin of name
Originally there were several farms near today's Glanhofen. Since the Glan was nearby, the name "Glanhofen" came into being over time.
