The Gloria D is a former seaside resort ship . It was built in 1972, sold several times and renamed.
From 2004 to 2012 it was in poor condition in the Harburg inland port , since summer 2012 it has been at the Lindenau shipyard in Kiel-Friedrichsort .
history
The ship was built in 1972 under the construction number 809 at the Ewald Berninghaus shipyard in Cologne-Deutz for Willi Freter in Heiligenhafen . It was baptized on the Heiligenhafen coat of arms and was used on the Heiligenhafen – Rødbyhavn route. The shipping company filed for bankruptcy on December 1, 1980 , the Heiligenhafen coat of arms was then sold to H. W. Nissen from Heiligenhafen and used by Seebäderdienst Heiligenhafen GmbH .
In 1981 the ship was sold to the Förde shipping company in Flensburg , which used it on the routes Heiligenhafen – Rødbyhavn, Kappeln – Sønderburg and Damp – Graasten. From 1986 she was back in service on the original route Heiligenhafen – Rødbyhavn.
Then it was bought by Hansa-Linien GmbH , Hamburg, registered in Panama as Atlantis III and used by the new owner between Heiligenhafen and Rødbyhavn and from 1988 between Kappeln and Sønderborg .
In 1989 she was rebuilt at the Norderwerft in Hamburg, after which it was chartered to the Hansa-Tourist and the Nordische Seetourist until 1999 . After completion of this charter was Atlantis III then first in Sønderburg and to 2003 in Arnis launched . After the sale to the CCC Catamaran Chartering Company GmbH & Co. KG in Mallentin , it was launched in Wischhafen and renamed Gloria Dei . The home port was now Hamburg , soon afterwards it was launched in the pilot port in Hamburg-Harburg. As Gloria D , the seaside resort ship should be owned by the III. Gloria Reederei GmbH & Co. KG together with the Gloria I will originally be transferred to a new shipping area in South America .
The ship, now lying in Hamburg-Harburg , was not looked after for a long time , the exterior was in poor condition. There were several inquiries regarding the further use or scrapping of the Gloria D , especially against the background of the new construction projects in the Harburg inland port area and the outsourcing of the inland port area from the responsibility of the port administration of the Hamburg Port Authority (HPA). Most recently, deadlines had passed by which the ship should have left port. When attempting to leave the harbor on July 1, 2012, the ship collided with the landing stage of the Harburg marina and damaged it and several boats.
On the evening of July 12, 2012, the ship left the Harburg inland port with tug assistance . After passing the Kiel Canal , it reached the Lindenau shipyard in Kiel-Friedrichsort the following day . On August 6, 2012, a fire broke out in the engine room of the Lindenau shipyard on the Gloria D , which has since been renamed Atlantis .
