Gloria Leonard , actually Gale Sandra Klinetsky (born August 28, 1940 in New York City , † February 3, 2014 in Waimea , Hawaii ), was an American porn actress who later became the editor of the porn magazine High Society . In the meantime she was married to the porn director Bobby Hollander .

Life

Leonard grew up in the Bronx and worked for three years on Wall Street as an employee of Schweickart & Company . She also worked for various PR companies, for Elektra Records and for Johnny Carson . Leonard began her career in porn in 1976 and ended it in 1984. According to the Internet Adult Film Database , she starred in 73 films. She directed eight films herself. In addition to her work in the porn film industry, she was editor of the porn magazine High Society from 1977 to 1991 . During this time, the magazine began printing photos of nude celebrities as the first sex magazine. Margot Kidder , Ann-Margret and Barbra Streisand sued the magazine for this in vain. Leonard set up the first phone sex hotline in 1983 and the magazine was able to legally enforce this before the Supreme Court . In the early 1980s, Leonard negotiated a contract for the script for a porn film for Norman Mailer . However, the project did not materialize. From 1989 to 1992 she was director of the Adult Film Association until it was merged with the Free Speech Coalition , which Leonard took over as chairman in 1998. She also served as chair of the American Film and Video Association . Leonard has participated in several discussions in colleges and universities on the topics of pornography and censorship and its impact on the women's movement. She died of a stroke in February 2014 at the age of 73 .

Television appearances

Leonard took on the role of a saleswoman in the episode "Manna from Heaven" in the series Simon & Simon in 1984 . She has appeared in numerous talk shows, including a. in Oprah , Geraldo , Maury , Larry King and Howard Stern . She temporarily directed the television shows The Leonard Report: For Adults Only and later Gloria Leonard's Hot Shopper Hour .
