The Glory of the Seas was an American clipper built in 1869 . The sailing ship was on the shipyard of Donald McKay in Boston built. It was burned on May 13, 1923 on Seattle Beach .

Record runs

The Glory of the Seas managed to set new records on two of their trips. On October 13, 1873, she sailed from the port of New York and on January 18, returned to the port of San Francisco . The trip only lasted 96 days. The second record run started on March 14, 1875 in San Francisco and ended 35 days later on April 19, 1875 in Sydney , Australia .

Sail plan

The sail plan for the three masts of the Glory of the Seas provided for two topsails , a top sail and a royal sail . In addition, each mast could, as is typical of the American design, carry a sky sail (sky sail).

Whereabouts
