The Gmina Bychawa [ bɨˈxava ] is a town-and-country municipality in the powiat Lubelski of the Lublin Voivodeship in Poland . Its seat is the city of the same name with about 5000 inhabitants.
geography
The municipality is located about 20 kilometers south of the voivodeship capital Lublin . It has an area of 146.2 km².
history
From 1956 to 1975 the place was the seat of the Powiat Bychawski . Two years later the place was given city rights again.
