The Gmina Poniatowa is an urban-and-rural municipality in the powiat Opolski of the Lublin Voivodeship in Poland . Its seat is the city of the same name .

The municipality is located in the south-east of Poland a few kilometers northeast of Opole Lubelskie .

The town of Poniatowa was built in 1937 on the site of a village of the same name.
