The Goggenbach is a brook on the Goggenbach suburb of the municipality of Kupferzell in the Hohenlohe district in northeastern Baden-Württemberg , which flows into the upper Kupfer from the right after a less than two and a half kilometers long, approximately western run south of the municipality's main town of Kupferzell .

geography

course

The Goggenbach flows down at about 380  m above sea level. NHN towards the west a tiny extinguishing water pond with an area of about 2 ares on the eastern edge of Goggenbach , which is at the junction of the local road from the K 2366, which touches the village there. The brook is canalized throughout the local area and since the land consolidation in 1961–63 has continued to flow westwards towards the Kupfer in a very straight ditch, mostly along field paths and roads through an arable landscape. Shortly before he reaches it, he turns right through a piece of meadow for only about 200 meters northwest. Then flows straight to about 338  m above sea level. NHN the Hörlebach close to the southern edge of the forest island Ghäu . After a further 400 meters in the direction of the Hörlebach, the Goggenbach flows between the Stegmühle and the southern edge of the village of Kupferzell a few hundred meters below the river bridge of the K 2367 Goggenhach – Hesselbronn from the right and now east-northeast at about 333  m above sea level. NHN in the upper copper , only about 200 meters before the next tributary Ohrnbach flowing along the northern edge of the Ghäus .

The 2.4 km long Goggenbach flows about 47 meters below its source pond, so it has an average bed gradient of about 20 ‰.

Catchment area

The Goggenbach drains about 2.2 km² in the lower area of the Kupferzeller Ebene and Kocheneck of the Hohenloher and Haller Ebene natural area . The 410.5  m above sea level. NHN's highest and at the same time most easterly point in it lies on a hill about 600 meters north of Eschental and east of Goggenbach on the boundary between these suburbs.

On the north side from the mouth to a little north of Goggenbach, the catchment area of the next copper tributary, Ohrnbach, borders. At its northeastern tip, the watershed very briefly separates the catchment area of the Bachensteiner Bach , which drains via the Rüblinger Bach and the Eschentaler Bach much higher up than the copper in the Kocher . The other Goggenbach also flows into the Eschentaler Bach, which initially takes up the runoff behind the further eastern and hydrologically most important watershed up to the highest point mentioned on the southeast corner. The southern watershed separates the drainage area of the Aspenbach , the previous right-hand copper tributary, about 800 meters further southeast and upstream.

The only settlement area in the catchment area and on the uppermost course is the village of Goggenbach , of which only part of an Aussiedlerhof in the outskirts drains to the outside. With the exception of a tiny snippet of the Feßbach suburb on the right, close to the mouth, the entire catchment area of the Goggenbach suburb belongs to the municipality of Kupferzell . For the most part, it is an open corridor with only a few meadows and hedges, taken up by field-adjusted fields. Only to the right of the Hörlebach is forest in the form of the Ghäus forest island , which separates from the Ohrnbach outside and which on this side of the watershed covers an area of about 17 hectares.

Tributaries

The Goggenbach has only one tributary, a ditch created at a branch path, mostly next to a field path that runs on the depth line of its own valley basin and only carries inconsistent water:

  • Hörlebach , from the right and east-northeast to about 347  m above sea level. NN in the Gewann bridge next to the Ghäu , 1.6 km and about 0.9 km². Arises at about 395  m above sea level. NN north of Goggenbach in Feldgewann Hörlebach on a field path branch. The Goggenbach, which is 2.0 km long up to this tributary, already has a catchment area of approx. 1.2 km².

geology

The Goggenbach rises on the edge of a large, Quaternary deposited loess sediment island, which surrounds the narrow valley floodplain like a pincer on the surrounding hills and accompanies the brook on the left side to about the middle, on the right side to the beginning of the lower reaches. Its only tributary, the Hörlebach, even begins its course in this loess island. Below is the Lettenkeuper ( Erfurt Formation ), the only layer of the Unterkeuper in the region , which covers the floodplain and all of the rest of the catchment area down to the mouth. The shell limestone , which lies in the subsoil of the flat, hilly Hohenlohe plain and is responsible for the poorly profiled relief, is only exposed outside the catchment area, closest to the deeper cut valley of the Eschentaler Bach in the east.
