Gold Typhoon

Gold Typhoon is a Chinese music label . The once independent label is now part of the Warner Music Group and at the time of the takeover in 2014 had a back catalog of over 600,000 Chinese and international songs and a share of around 3.5% of the Chinese record market.

history

The company was founded in 2003 in Hong Kong . The initiative came from EMI Hong Kong, which gave the renowned media manager Paco Wong, former CEO of Go East Entertainment, a free hand to build up what was originally called Gold Label Entertainment . Gold Label initially took over the local artist repertoire from EMI.

In 2001 it was taken over by an investment company domiciled in Luxembourg , which in turn sold its investment after three years for an undisclosed amount. The buyer was the Warner Music Group . At the time of this takeover, Gold Typhoon had built up a core of around 100 employees with offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Taipei and Hong Kong.
