The Golden Baseball League was an independent, professional baseball league in North America , based in San Ramon , California . Geographically, the teams were on the west coast of the continent, in Canada , the United States and Mexico . It existed between 2004 and 2010 and then went on to the North American League .

The league's main sponsor was Safeway Inc. , the third largest retailer in the United States. The league received a lot of media attention in 2010 when a Japanese player was signed to an American professional team for the first time. The Chico Outlaws signed the Knuckleballerin Eri Yoshida .
