action

Kim Gun-woo is the parcel deliverer. One day he saves the pop singer Su-ah from an attacker in an underground car park and is honored for his exemplary intervention. The media celebrate him and he is recognized on the street. While he was delivering packages, he received a call from his old friend Moo-yeol, who wanted to meet him. Gun-woo is delighted and remembers the old days when they played in a band together. They acted as a cover band and sang Beatles songs like "Golden Slumbers". But Moo-yeol is acting strangely. Gun-woo wants to deliver a package quickly and then talk to him again. But the room for which the package is intended has not yet been occupied. When he comes back down, his van is gone. He calls Moo-yeol. He had to drive away the car because of the police. Suddenly there is an explosion. Moo-yeol explains to him that presidential candidate Yoo has just been killed and that Gun-woo is the killer. In addition, the other package is a bomb that is supposed to kill him. Gun-woo doesn't understand.

Moo-yeol has a remorse and drives back. He helps Gun-woo escape and takes the package. However, it is switched off by agents. Gun-woo can escape successfully. He goes home to his girlfriend. But she also turns out to be an agent. However, Gun-woo can turn them off by accident. Apparently an organization wants to use its good image and stage a transformation into a murderer by carrying out a political plot. Gun-woo can escape first. But his friend Ju-ho is tortured by the agents in his bar. Gun-woo has access to the bar's security camera and records everything. But suddenly a person who looks just like him comes and kills Ju-ho. Now he can no longer bring the video to the police station for his relief.

Shortly afterwards he is caught by the agents. But Agent Min frees him. He demands money. But when he realizes that he won't get it and that it doesn't help to go public, he helps Gun-woo. You track down the doppelganger. This was reoperated in a clinic. You can turn it off and make it appear like Gun-woo is the victim. However, Mr. Min also dies fighting with the agents. Gun-woo is pronounced dead and the case of the murder of presidential candidate Yoo is closed. But Gun-woo calls his old friend Sun-young, who works for the radio. He wants to get the agents' attention. He puts this in a sewer. When suddenly water comes, only gun-woo is prepared. He climbs up from a manhole cover . He is picked up on the street by the pop singer Su-ah. This wants to return the favor. She takes him straight to the red carpet at an event where all journalists pounce on Gun-woo in amazement.

reception

Golden Slumber opened in South Korean cinemas on February 14, 2018 and had a total of over 1.3 million viewers.

For Shim Sun-ah from Yonhap , they tried to put too much into this film. Golden Slumber has all the ingredients for a successful film, but the plot and characters are weaker than in the original. The remake is too superficial. David Noh from Film Journal International draws a positive conclusion . The film is full of breathless tension and reminds him of the Jason Bourne franchise. The music appropriately supports the theme of nostalgia and friendship.
