Zlatý Kopec ( German Golden Height ) is a district of the town Boží Dar ( Gottesgab ) in the Karlovarský kraj region at an altitude of 735 m above sea level.
history
The place was founded in the 15th century by Saxon miners at the old Rittersgrüner Pass in the Schwarzenberg rule . It gained its fame as a summer resort and winter sports area due to its location in the valley floor of the Goldbachl or Goldwasser ( Zlatý potok ), away from the main tourist flows. In 1930 there were 42 houses in the village, which until 1945 belonged to the Seifen ( Ryžovna ) municipality .
Mountains overgrown with spruce forests (e.g. the Hahnberg and Kaffberg) protect the place against harsh north winds and thus soften the climate compared to the Gottesgaber plateau.
In the middle of the village was the Gasthaus Stieler, which had 6 rooms with 8 beds. This inn is currently closed. Today there are private accommodation options in the village.
Down the valley from Goldenhöhe on the border lies the district of Český Mlýn ( Bohemian Mill ), south of Rittersgrün, where the inn of the same name was located. Nearby was the " Gasthaus zur Patscherei " opposite Ehrenzipfel . Both restaurants were demolished in the 1950s. Today there are two border crossings between Saxony and the Czech Republic that can be used by ski hikers in winter.
From these border crossings there is, for example, the possibility of going on ski tours via the no longer existing village of Halbmeil to Boží Dar and back over the border at Tellerhäuser along the Anton-Günther-Weg below the Kaffberg.
In 2011 there were 6 houses in the village.

Visitor mine Johannesstollen (Zlatý Kopec)
As early as the first half of the 16th century, tin, iron and small amounts of copper ores were mined in the Kaff district near Zlaty Kopec (Goldenhöhe). The ores are in skarn layers . Funding was carried out here until the 1860s. In the 20s and 60s to 70s of the 20th century, a new deposit exploration was carried out. There are many aboveground and underground mining relics on an area of 1500 × 400 m. The most important tunnel, the Johannes tunnel, is located in the eastern part of the "Kaff" district, the so-called "Vorderen Kaff". The Kohlreuter mine with the tunnel of the same name is located at the back of the backwater, in which excavations up to 40 m long and 25 m wide were preserved. The lower-lying hereditary tunnels Segen-Gottes and Dreikönig drained this pit. In front of the mouth holes of these tunnels there are large heaps on which the main mineral minerals can still be found today.
There are also remarkable large excavation chambers of 60 × 20 m and 10–12 m in height in the Johannes tunnel. Since these large chambers are also noteworthy nationwide, a visitor mine was set up in the Johannes gallery in 2013 (according to the inscription on the gallery portal). The 180 m long Johannes tunnel leads into the large medieval mining chambers already mentioned.
The polymetallic skarns in the Johannes, Kohlreuter, Dreifaltigkeit and Dreikönig mine fields are also of international importance as they are rarely found. These are the tin borate hulsite (only known from the Seward Peninsula in Alaska, from China and Siberia) and the tin hydroxide schoenfliesite (otherwise only found in Alaska and in Pitkäranta in Karelia ). On the golden height the skarns form two tabular bodies enclosed in chlorite-sericite phylites. The iron extracted here is in the form of magnetite. From around 1860 zinc ore was also mined in the Kaff district. In the last investigations carried out, minable amounts of cadmium and indium were found in the zinc ore. The search for uranium in several tunnels was unsuccessful.
A map mentions other pits and tunnels in the Skarn district “Kaff”: “JD c.7”, Klementine, Mathesius, Trikralova, Hermann, Hugo and Rudolf.
