Goldfish is a South African music group from Cape Town .

The members David Poole and Dominic Peters are both studied jazz musicians . They combine elements from jazz , funk , dance and African sounds with electronic beats. Their debut album Caught in the Loop offered a mixture of chilled songs and dance tracks. Live the band appears "harder" than on CD; In addition to electronic instruments such as samplers , groove boxes and effects devices, they also use saxophones , keyboards , double bass and flute at their performances . David Poole also sings, but the duo has worked with various other singers such as Sakhile Moleshe, Max Vidima, Monique Hellenberg and Hlulani Hlangwane.

Goldfish has also supported many international bands, e.g. B. for Basement Jaxx , Faithless , Fatboy Slim , Mr Scruff , Audio Bullys , Paul van Dyk , Pete Tong and Stereo MCs . They toured z. B. already through Japan and Dubai and appeared at the awarding of the advertising Oscars Golden Lion in Cannes .

Her song Fort Knox was featured in the advertisement for the Kia Soul .

Awards and nominations

In 2009 Goldfish set a new record at the South Africa Music Awards with eight nominations , including nominations for “Best Duo or Group”, “Album of the Year” and “Best Dance Album”. At the MTV Africa Music Awards 2008 they were nominated for the "Best Alternative" category.
