Goran Đorović ( Serbian - Cyrillic Горан Ђоровић ; born November 11, 1971 in Pristina , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a former Serbian football player and current coach of the Serbian U-21 national football team .
Player career
Initially, Đorović played for his home club FK Priština and moved to FK Red Star Belgrade in 1993 . He was used there in 100 league games and moved shortly before his 26th birthday to the Spanish first division club Celta Vigo . In the 1998/99 season he played together with his brother Zoran Đorović in Vigo. After his debut on August 31, 1997, a 2-1 win against Real Saragossa , he was used in 126 games.
After a first attempt to move him to the move was unsuccessful, he signed Javier Irureta , the manager of Deportivo La Coruña 2001. However, Đorović's career at Depor was accompanied by constant injuries. For the 2003/04 season Đorović was awarded together with Dani Mallo , Roberto Acuña and José Manuel to FC Elche in the Segunda División . After his return he ended his career.
With the Yugoslav national team Đorović took part as a regular at the 1998 World Cup in France when he played all four tournament games when he reached the second round (1: 2 against the Netherlands). Two years later he was also on the squad at the European Championships in Belgium and the Netherlands.
Coaching career
Đorović has been the coach of the Serbian U21 national football team since 2017 and successfully led them through the qualification for the European Championship 2019 in Italy and San Marino , where he and his team were eliminated in the group stage.
