Gottfried Gymnich

Johann Gottfried Gymnich (born October 26, 1772 in Niederembt , † March 10, 1841 in Cologne ) was a lawyer and Prussian administrative officer . From 1816 to 1835 he managed the Cologne district as district administrator .

Life

Gottfried Gymnich was the son of the landowner Christian Gymnich and Ursula, geb. Eiffeler. After studying at the University of Cologne , he settled there as a lawyer . With the transition of the Rhineland to Prussia and its division into new administrative districts, the new sovereign appointed him in April 1816 as the first district administrator of the district of Cologne. After 19 years of service, Gymnich was retired with the highest cabinet order (AKO) on May 28, 1835. He resigned from office on August 1, 1835.

The Catholic Gottfried Gymnich married on October 27, 1808 in Bachem Elise Auguste Marie Anne Friederike Countess Geldern zu Arcen (born September 14, 1775 in Mannheim, † after 1841), the daughter of Count Friedrich von Geldern and Friederike, née. of stones.
