Gottfried Hasenkamp

Gottfried Hasenkamp (pseudonym: Gottfried Johannes Gerhart ; born March 12, 1902 in Bremen ; † September 2, 1990 in Münster , Westphalia ) was a German writer .

Life

From 1920 Gottfried Hasenkamp studied German , art history and philosophy at the universities of Münster , Tübingen and Bonn . In 1923 he earned his doctorate in philosophy with a thesis on Friedrich Hölderlin . From 1924 Hasenkamp worked as an editor at the Münster Aschendorff Verlag and was part of the editorial team of the Münster Anzeiger . During the Third Reich , he was temporarily relieved of his office by the National Socialist rulers because of his decidedly Christian attitude . Hasenkamp took from 1939 to 1945 as a soldier of the Wehrmacht at the World War II in part. After the end of the war in 1946 he was one of the founders of the Westfälische Nachrichten , whose publishing house he was head of.

Gottfried Hasenkamp was the author of poems and spiritual dramas . His work is shaped by the author's Catholic faith, who in his poetry cultivated a preference for traditional forms such as hymns and odes . In literary terms he was heavily influenced by Friedrich Hölderlin and the religious poetry of Annette von Droste-Hülshoff .

Gottfried Hasenkamp was chairman of the Droste Society for more than two decades . In 1971 he was made a knight of the Order of Gregory , in 1975 he received the Paulus plaque from the diocese of Münster .
