Gottfried Köster

Gottfried Köster (born January 15, 1928 in Rheine ; † November 27, 2007 there ) was a German educator and politician ( CDU ). From 1965 to 1969 he was district administrator of the Steinfurt district and from 1969 to 1983 a member of the German Bundestag .

Life

After graduating from the Dionysianum in Rheine in 1946, Köster first completed a commercial apprenticeship, which he completed with the assistant test. He then took up studies in mathematics, physics and Catholic theology, which he finished in 1950 with the first state examination for teaching at secondary schools. He entered the school service and was from 1951 to 1953 trainee lawyer and assessor in Münster . He later worked as a senior teacher at the Dionysianum in Rheine.

Köster had been a member of the CDU since 1949. In 1956 he was elected to the district council of the Steinfurt district. From 1965 to 1969 he was an honorary district administrator for the Steinfurt district.

Köster was a member of the German Bundestag from 1969 to 1983. In the 1969 Bundestag election , he was elected to the Bundestag to succeed Heinrich Hörnemann in constituency 96 (Steinfurt - Coesfeld) . He was able to defend the direct mandate in 1972 and 1976 . In 1980 he won the direct mandate in constituency 98 (Steinfurt II) . From 1969 to 1980 he was a member of the Committee on Youth, Family and Health and from October 1982 a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee.
