Gottfried Kretzschmar

Gottfried "Fritz" Kretzschmar (born August 3, 1930 in Strehla ; † December 23, 2001 in Leipzig ) was a German Evangelical Lutheran theologian and professor for practical theology in Leipzig.

Life

Kretzschmar obtained his higher education entrance qualification after attending primary school and a secondary educational institution . From 1950 to 1955 he studied Protestant theology in Halle and Leipzig . In 1955 he found a job as an assistant catechist in the Evangelical Lutheran Church Association in Leipzig. At the same time he puts his promotion to the doctorate in theology from the submission of its dissertation on " The Catholic catechism as a reflection of internal church renewal movements of the last 50 years in Germany ." In addition, he worked as an editor or editor at Union-Verlag Berlin . From 1956 to 1957 he prepared as an aspirant to take on a teaching position . From 1958 to 1964 he was a research assistant at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig . At the same time, he completed during this period from 1959 to 1961 his Vicariate , and in 1961 he was appointed parish priest ordained . In 1964 he completed his habilitation with a thesis entitled “ Volkskirche im Umbruch. Church expressions of life in three parishes of the Evangelical Lutheran Regional Church of Saxony. A practical theological work based on the sociology of the parish. “He is also a co-author of numerous books, such as the“ Handbuch der Seelsorge ”and the“ Handbuch der Praxis Theologie ”.

From 1965 to 1969 he was a research assistant at the university. From 1968 to 1973 he was a lecturer in practical theology at the theological faculty and in the theology department of the Karl Marx University in Leipzig. From 1973 to 1978 he taught as an associate professor for practical theology in the theology department of the Karl Marx University in Leipzig, and from 1978 to 1990 it became a full professorship . From 1990 to 1995 he taught in the same position, now again under the umbrella of the re-established theological faculty.

Socially active Kretzschmar was a member of the East German CDU and was chairman of the working group Christian circles of the National Front of the GDR in Leipzig. Kretzschmar worked in the Christian Peace Conference (CFK) and was a participant in the I and II All-Christian Peace Assemblies (ACFV) in Prague in 1961 and 1964.

Kretzschmar was married and had four children.
