Gotthilf Heinrich Schnee

Gotthilf Heinrich Schnee (born August 5, 1761 in Siersleben ; † January 12, 1830 in Schartau ) was a German pastor , aesthetic and agricultural writer and, as director of the Fatherland Literary Society of the County of Mansfeld, played a key role in the creation of the Luther memorial in Wittenberg von Johann Gottfried Schadow involved.

Life

Schnee grew up as the son of an innkeeper and landowner in Siersleben . After attending secondary school in Eisleben , Braunschweig and the Francke Foundations in Halle , he studied in Halle and Leipzig theology .

Here he published anonymous Eduard Willmann, dramatized ; Karl and Elise, a story and Jacob Urban, or contribution to the history of German geniuses . He then worked as a tutor, wrote poetry and published a book of edification.

In 1790, Schnee got a job as a preacher in Großörner near Mansfeld and was committed to the bonum commune : Schnee was director of the Patriotic Literary Society of the County of Mansfeld . The aim of the society was to erect a monument to Luther in Mansfeld. However, this was set up in Wittenberg in 1821 . From 1803 until his death, Schnee was also editor and publisher of the Landwirthschaftliche Zeitung .

In 1809, Prince Ferdinand of Prussia appointed Schnee as a preacher in Schartau near Burg . In the following years, Schnee wrote agricultural and household handbooks and manuals.
