Biggest street fashion show in the world

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The largest street fashion show in the world took place annually on a September weekend between 1992 and 2013 in downtown Krefeld .

General

On six large stages, models presented trends in fashion and design to mostly more than 500,000 spectators. Music, moderation and many special activities complemented the exhibition. This includes B. the project Mode im Quadrat at the Behnischhaus. From fashion jewelry made of glass and ties to bespoke tailoring and textile history to a crash course in " dress code " could be obtained.

The street fashion show

A 10 km long sky made of silk led the visitors through the city to the fashion stages and the other event locations. Around 100 models presented fashion. The German Tie Institute selects Tie Man of the Year as part of the event - the award has existed since 1965. Since 2011, the street fashion show has been taking place on an ever smaller scale due to financial problems in the city of Krefeld (emergency budget). In 2013, the Krefeld Business World organized the Fashion World event with limited funds from the city of Krefeld. In 2014, an event was held under the name Krefeld Pur, but the number of visitors fell far short of business people's expectations. As of 2015, no more funds were made available by the city of Krefeld. The biggest fashion shyness in the world, also in the form of the follow-up event Fashion World, has not taken place since 2016.

Golden silk bow

The city of Krefeld's fashion and marketing prize, the Golden Seidenschleife , was awarded during the event. The city of Krefeld is honoring the successful strategic brand management and innovative strength of a globally operating German label. The award has been presented since 1993.
