Grünberg is a residential area in the town of Bernsdorf in the northwest of the Bautzen district in the Free State of Saxony .

Grünberg lies between Bernsdorf and Straßgräbchen on the Wutschkenwiesenwasser. West is located on the railway line Lübbenau-Kamenz of Straßgräbchen-Bernsdorf (Oberlausitz) Bahnhof . The settlement is part of the largely flat and wooded Königsbrück heathland, the Lange Holz extends to the north.

history
The house dismantling in Grünberg was founded in 1783 by the owners of the Straßgräbchen manor as part of the farming process . The settlement laid out on the Straßgräbchener Rittergutsflur on the Poststrasse leading from Kamenz to Hoyerswerda was named after the first house owner . The place was parish after Großgrabe . As a result of the Congress of Vienna in 1815, the Saxon-Prussian border was drawn between Grünberg and Bernsdorf; Bernsdorf became Prussian.
Grünberg was part of the community of Straßgräbchen. Administratively, the village belonged to the Bautzen district and from 1843 to the district court district of Bautzen. With the reorganization of Saxon administrative structures Grünberg in 1856 the court District Kamenz and 1875 of Amtshauptmannschaft Kamenz assigned. In 1874, the Lübbenau – Kamenz railway line built by the Berlin-Görlitzer Railway Company was completed; the line ran between Grünberg and Waldhof ; Bernsdorf train station was built west of Grünberg .
In 1952 Grünberg became part of the Kamenz district . In 2007 Grünberg was incorporated into Bernsdorf together with Straßgräbchen. The village has been part of the Bautzen district since 2008.
