Grabowskia boerhaviifolia is a plant type from the genus Grabowskia in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae).

description

Grabowskia boerhaviifolia is an arched, branching shrub with heights of 1.5 to 2 m. Its leaves are 1.5 to 3.5 (rarely up to 4) cm wide and are ovate or almost round and often pointy.

The flowers are in short panicles or clusters. The calyx is about 4 mm long, on the nearly cut calyx tube sit five pointed calyx teeth. The crown is about 10 mm long and colored purple or white. The crown throat is hairy and marked with yellowish or green veins. The crown lobes are bent back. The stamens are beyond the crown.

The fruit is an orange berry that becomes 7 to 8 mm long.

Occurrence

The species is found in Mexico , the Galapagos Islands , Peru , Chile , Bolivia and western Argentina .

Systematics

Molecular biological studies place the species in a clade with the other representatives of the Grabowskia , which is a sister clade within the genus Lycium to a clade with the species Lycium cooperi , Lycium macrodon , Lycium pallidum , Lycium puberulum and Lycium shockleyi , whereby the genus of the buckthorn ( Lycium ) is not considered monophyletic .
