The Gramophone Orchestra is a German orchestra in Regensburg , the popular music of the 1920s to 1940s plays. It is not to be confused with orchestras from other origins that have the same or similar names.
history
The formation was founded in autumn 1994 by Franz Grabmaier, who sang as a student with the Regensburger Domspatzen , Gerhard Putz and Wilhelm Wittmann. The original ensemble had eight members. Little by little, more members were added, there were changes in line-up and, according to the company's own statements, an ideal line-up had come together in the mid-2000s.
The orchestra was mainly seen performing in the Bavarian region, including at charity events with Fred Bertelmann and Johannes Heesters . In 2002 the formation took part in the German preliminary decision for the Grand Prix of Folk Music 2002 and took 8th place with the title I drive with my bee . It is worth mentioning that the ensemble found the former pop singer Magda Hain in a Regensburg retirement home.
