However, the striker had his best season in the 1979/80 season , when he scored 65 points - including 39 goals - in Chicago's dress. Mulvey remained a total of nine game years in the "Windy City" . Due to a protracted knee injury, he missed most of the 1982/83 season , in which he completed only three games for the Black Hawks.
This should also have been his last games for Chicago, as he was selected shortly before the start of the 1983/84 season by the New Jersey Devils on the waiver list . For the Devils, the Canadian played another twelve NHL games during the season, but spent most of the season with the farm team , Maine Mariners , in the American Hockey League . With these he won the Calder Cup at the end of his career, as the 33-year-old declared his active career over in the summer of 1984.
After a hiatus of several years, Mulvey returned to the ice hockey business in the mid-1990s. For the 1994/95 season he was introduced as President and General Manager of the Chicago Wolves from the International Hockey League . He filled this post for a total of three years.
