Gray heron colony

The gray heron colony nature reserve is the largest nature reserve in the Altenkirchen district (Westerwald) in Rhineland-Palatinate .
The 137.5 hectare area, which was placed under nature protection in 2001 , extends in two parts west of the city of Betzdorf along the Sieg . The B 62 runs in parts on the northern edge of the nature reserve.
