Rosenheimer Lay
The Rosenheimer Lay is a designated nature reserve in the Altenkirchen district in the Westerwald . It is an abandoned quarry, formerly also called Kotzenrother Lay , in which basalt was mined until 1976 and is now a wetland. The Lindians Seifen nature reserve extends north of the Rosenheimer Lay .
The Rosenheimer Lay nature reserve is around 49 hectares in size and comprises parts of the municipalities of Rosenheim and Elkenroth .
The purpose of protection is
- "The preservation of the abandoned quarry with its water and shallow water zones and with its steep areas as a habitat for rare and threatened animal species, especially amphibians, reptiles and birds, and for scientific reasons".
The corresponding ordinance was issued by the Koblenz district government on May 23, 1985.
