Greater Tzaneen ( English Greater Tzaneen Local Municipality ) is a local municipality in the Mopani District , Limpopo Province in South Africa . The administrative headquarters are in Tzaneen . Maripe Mangena is the mayor.

The community name is derived from the North Sotho word for place where people gather .

In 2011 the community had 390,095 inhabitants. 96.4% of them were black and 3% white.

The first language was Sepedi ( 46%) , Xitsonga ( 40.8%) , Sesotho ( 4.3%) , Afrikaans ( 2.6%) and English (1.6%).
