Greenville is a small town in the southeast of the US state Missouri with 445 inhabitants (as of 2003).

location

The place is on the edge of the Ozark Mountains in the middle of a hilly forest landscape. Route 67, which runs from Chicago in the north to the Gulf of Mexico in the south, runs right through Greenville.

The next major town with major shopping and a movie theater is Poplar Bluff , about 30 miles south of Greenville. It can be reached via Route 67. Greenville is roughly half the way from St. Louis to Memphis, Tennessee on the Arkansas border and not far from the Mississippi .

The small town generally consists of the administration and courthouse (Greenville is the administrative seat of Wayne County ), a bank, two gas stations, a supermarket, a snack bar and a restaurant , in addition to a number of small apartment buildings .

The colors of the schools are red and black. The mascot is the bear. The most popular sports in schools are basketball , baseball (girls: softball ), volleyball (girls only), and golf .

Attractions

The Wayne County area is best known among campers and vacationers from all over the USA for its artificial reservoir, Lake Wappapello . You camp on one of the many small RV sites and go fishing with pontoons on the lake. The Mark Twain National Forest , a nature reserve, is located around the large lake with its innumerable branches . A lot of game lives in the endless deciduous forests. It also provides an ideal habitat for many birds, rodents, and snakes. Bears and big cats are also spotted frequently. Hunting is a very popular hobby here. The hunted game is fully used so that the already poor population can save money.
