Gregory Samuel "Greg" Swor (born April 19, 1951 in Fargo ) is a former American ski jumper .
Career
Swor celebrated his first successes at national level. At the US Junior Championships in Brattleboro in 1969 , he won the title in individual jumping. Then he received a national team starting place for the first time in the Four Hills Tournament 1969/70 . However, he fell short of expectations in all competitions and achieved his best result on the tour with rank 41 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen . In the overall standings, Swor came in 39th with 761.5 points.
At the following US championships in 1970 in Eau Claire on Silver Mine Hill , he won the bronze medal in singles when Bill Bakke won. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1970 in Štrbské Pleso he came 26th from the large hill after jumps on 88 and 98 meters. On the normal hill he reached rank 24 with jumps on 77.5 and 76 meters. In the same year Swor jumped 105.2 meters on Bakke Hill in Leavenworth , a new hill record that lasted until the hill was demolished.
In his second and last Four Hills Tournament in 1970/71 , he managed a significant improvement over the previous year. Although Swor landed on 44th place in the opening competition on the Schattenbergschanze in Oberstdorf , he was able to jump to 15th place in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. On the Bergiselschanze in Innsbruck he achieved the best single tour result of his career with the 14th place. After jumping into the top 30 with 27th place in the final competition on the Paul-Ausserleitner-Schanze in Bischofshofen , he finished the tour in 21st place overall.
Swor's last international tournament started at the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo . He jumped from the normal hill to rank 50 and from the large hill to rank 30.
In 1975 he officially resigned from skiing for family reasons.
