Gregor Zippel
Gregor Zippel OSB , real name Stephan Edmund Zippel (born November 24, 1939 in Ratibor , Upper Silesia ) is the emeritus abbot of the Benedictine monastery in Rohr .
After the expulsion, he found refuge in Goslar with his mother and sister . From there he was sent to the grammar school of the Rohr monastery in Lower Bavaria , which was run by the displaced monks from Braunau in Bohemia . After his school days he entered the novitiate of the Rohr monastery and took the religious name Gregor . After studying theology in Königstein , he was ordained a priest on September 1, 1968 in Königstein by Adolf Kindermann . He then studied Latin and German for teaching, which he practiced at the in-house grammar school. He was also head and prefect of the boarding school and head of the conference center. On March 15, 2002, the monks of the Rohr monastery elected him 4th abbot of the newly established monastery. The blessing he received on June 2, 2002 in pipe through diocesan administrator Vinzenz Guggenberger of Regensburg . On July 3, 2010 the President of the Bavarian Benedictine Congregation in Ettal , Abbot Barnabas Bögle ( OSB ), accepted Abbot Gregor's resignation, which he had to submit on his 70th birthday according to the congregation's statutes. After his resignation , Abbot Gregory continued to carry out confirmations on behalf of the Bishop of Regensburg and taught Latin until 2020 .
