Gremmelsbach is a hamlet-like settlement in the Gremmelsbachtal and is located in the middle of the Schlossberg-Hauberg nature reserve , about 6 km from the city center of Triberg. The village lies at an altitude of 500 to over 900 m.
history
The high valley settlement of Gremmelsbach was probably created by the Lords of Hornberg . Around 1280 the place was mentioned as Gremmelsbach , after 1525 as Gremelspach . It was probably one of the two Meiertümer that belonged to Althornberg Castle in the 14th century . Gremmelsbach came to Triberg when the Hornberg rule was divided around 1280; with this as an imperial fief in 1325 initially to the Counts of Hohenberg , 1355 to Habsburg and was pledged to various lords until the 17th century. It was part of Upper Austria until 1805 , temporarily part of Württemberg, and from 1806 belonged to the Grand Duchy of Baden . Until 1924 it belonged to the Triberg District Office and then to the Villingen District Office.
On October 1, 1974 Gremmelsbach came to the city of Triberg in the Black Forest.
