The Gribowski G-8 ( Russian Грибовский Г-8 ) was an aircraft of the Soviet aircraft designer Wladimir Konstantinowitsch Gribowski .
development
The machine was built in 1931 as part of a pilot training course at OSSOAWIACHIM in Moscow . It was designed as a sports and training aircraft. The first flight took place in 1932.
The self-supporting single - seater low - wing aircraft made of wood had a monocoque made of 1.5 to 2 mm thick plywood . The wing was designed with two spars . From the leading edge of the wing to the second spar , the wing also consisted of plywood planking, which absorbed the torsional forces. The rest of the wing was covered with fabric. These became the design features of all other Gribowski aircraft. The landing gear was not retractable. Probably only one machine was built.
In October 1932, the pilot DA Koschiz made a sightseeing flight with this machine over several stages totaling 4500 km in length, which demonstrated the airworthiness and serviceability of the machine without breaking a record.
