The Gribowski G-25 ( Russian Грибовский Г-25 ) was an aircraft of the Soviet aircraft designer Wladimir Konstantinowitsch Gribowski .

development

The two-seater biplane made entirely of wood with an open cockpit and rigid landing gear was similar in its design to the Polikarpow Po-2 , but was slightly smaller. It was intended as a training aircraft . Initially this machine was equipped with a Pobjoy Niagara II engine and made its maiden flight in 1937 .

In 1938 an equally powerful power unit based on a motor vehicle engine, the six-cylinder in-line engine GAZ Aero, was installed. The machine was named G-25bis and also appeared at the exhibition on Pilot's Day on August 18, 1938 in Tuschino . At first it was planned to build a small series of 5 machines in order to be able to test the engine extensively. The flight performance decreased so much due to the higher engine weight that the tests were stopped at the end of November 1938.
