particularities | Highest mountain in the Steiner Alps |
The Grintovec is with a height of 2558 m. i. J. the highest mountain in the Steiner Alps in Slovenia . Until 1918, the border between Carinthia and Carniola ran across the summit . The botanist Giovanni Antonio Scopoli was the first known tourist to reach the summit in 1759. Karl Günther Freiherr von Saar and Hermann Sattler made the first ascent through the north face on July 11, 1907.
The easiest ascent is the normal route from the Zois hut ( Cojzova Koča , 1793 m ) on the Kankersattel in the south. In the north of the Grintovec is the Czech hut ( Češka koča ) at 1543 m ; for the summit ascent from the north are a complete ferrata and rock fall helmet required, the rock platforms are equipped with B / C classification. Climbers mostly take the climbing routes over the northwest flank.
The route Fritsch-Lindenbach in the north-western flank of the mountain is considered to be the most demanding ski run in Slovenia and was skied in 2006 by the local Davo Karničar .
There is a mountain run on the mountain .
