location

Groß Thiershausen is located on the northeastern edge of the Eichsfeld, just under two kilometers north of Renshausen and two kilometers southeast of Gillersheim . The municipality is located at the transition from the eastern Golden Mark to the hill country near Gillersheim in the valley of the Renshausen brook, which flows into the Gillersheim brook. History of the village and the desert

The first written mentions of a Tiedershausen for the years 1256 and 1259 cannot be clearly assigned to this place. In 1410 Thidershusen was already described as a desert when Duke Otto von Braunschweig transferred the place to Ernst and Hans von Uslar as a liege lord. His successor Duke Wilhelm von Braunschweig enfeoffed Dietrich and Geverde von Hardenberg with Tiedershausen. They sold it to Dietrich von Plessen in 1472 , who, with the Duke's approval, sold it to the Northeim and Wiebrechtshausen monasteries .

In the early modern times, a Vorwerk was built here. In 1525 Johann von Minnigerode bought the Vorwerk Diedershausen from the Northeim Monastery for the Elector of Mainz . In 1607 the von Bodungen owned the meierweise Vorwerk . In a statistical survey of the Kingdom of Hanover for the year 1823, a Vorwerk and a mill are recorded for Groß Thiershausen in the Lindau / Principality of Grubenhagen and 13 residents live there.
