particularities Ager - Salzach watershed

The Große Plaike is 1034  m above sea level. A. high mountain in the Austrian state of Salzburg .

It is about 5 km southeast of the Wallersee , to which it turns its steepest mountain flank, and just as far north of Thalgau . It belongs to the massif of the Kolomansberg ( 1114  m above sea level ) 3 km away , the eastern group of the Mondsee Flysch Mountains and northwest of the Salzburg Prealps . Here it forms the south- west ridge of the group, which branches off the main ridge 2½ kilometers east of the Lehmberg ( 1022  m above sea level ) and ends after another 2½ kilometers west in the Zifanken .

The name refers to an earlier plaike , a form of erosion that is common in the mountains, in which the sward or low vegetation slips off over a large area. Today the mountain is mostly forested.

To the north, the Grabenbach and Amselbach drains on both sides of Gut Aiderbichl to Henndorf am Wallersee , to the south a stream from Schönfeichtplatzl to Fischbach towards Thalgau. The summit thus also forms the watershed between the Salzach region (towards the Inn ) and the Mondsee catchment area (via Ager to the Traun ).
