particularities Ager - Salzach watershed

The Zifanken is an 897  m above sea level. A. high mountain in the Austrian state of Salzburg . The wooded hilltop is located about 5 km southeast of the Wallersee , and just as far northwest of Thalgau in the municipality of Henndorf am Wallersee .

It is a foothill of the north-east of the Grosse Plaike ( 1034  m above sea level ) in the Kolomansberg massif , the eastern group of the Mondsee Flysch Mountains and northwest of the Salzburg Prealps . It forms the end of the side ridge of the Kolomannsberg massif that grazes between Wallersee and Thalgau ; its steep west and south flanks turn towards Eugendorf, 5½ kilometers away, and the Enzersberg saddle landscape between the Salzburg lake area and Thalgau.

To the southwest, the L241 passes  Enzersberg Landesstraße ( A1 near Thalgau- Unterdorf to Henndorf ).

The southwestern foot of the Zifanken is lined with Würm-temporal moraines , which mark the point at which the branch from the Wallerseegletscher of the Salzach Glacier that pushed up to the Thalgaugletscher of the Dachstein Glacier was cut off. The wall accumulates at Aigenstuhl south below the Zifanken, in between the Altenbach flows eastwards to Henndorf and the Wallersee, and a nameless ditch to the Fischbach towards Thalgau. To the north, the Grabenbach drains to Henndorf. The summit thus also forms the watershed between the Salzach region (towards the Inn ) and the Mondsee catchment area (via Ager to the Traun ).

The valley between Zifanken and the moraine is characterized by moist litter meadows .
