The Großer Uhlenbach mountain stream is a right tributary of the Uhlenbach in the Lower Harz in Saxony-Anhalt .

course

This stream rises a few kilometers west of the Kleiner Uhlenbach in a headwaters in the Ramberg massif belonging to the Lower Harz . After about a kilometer of the river, a stream that rises east-southeast of the headwaters of the Großer Uhlenbach flows into it on the right. In the middle course, a short brook that has its own headwaters flows into the Große Uhlenbach on the left and an equally short brook on the right. In the lower reaches of the river, about 1–2 km long, flows into the Große Uhlenbach on the left, before it continues to flow without any major tributaries until it meets the Kleiner Uhlenbach, in the reservoir at the Uhlenstein forester's lodge near Erichsberg Castle .

etymology

The name of the brook comes from the Middle High German word Ule. This is called the owl . This was connected with large to distinguish it from small Uhlenbach , as well as the basic word -bach .
