Great stone grave Quetz

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The large stone grave Quetz was a possible Neolithic megalithic grave complex on the Quetzer Berg near Quetzdölsdorf- Quetz, a district of Zörbig in the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district , Saxony-Anhalt . The facility was excavated by J. Schmidt in 1897. At this point it was already badly damaged and was later completely removed. More precise information on the architecture of the tomb is not available. According to Hans-Jürgen Beier , it could have been a large stone grave or a pseudomegalithic wall chamber grave . Skeletal remains could not be found during the examination. At offerings were hammers of rock, a bone - chisel , a flint Sword and several pottery fragments found. The latter allowed the grave to be assigned to the late Neolithic Bernburg culture . The finds are now in the State Museum of Prehistory in Halle (Saale) .
