Corporate development

Start with an "epicerie"

The passionate aviation enthusiast and pilot Jean-Paul Dubreuil had completed his pilot training at the age of 16 and in 1966, at the age of 24, also started an "epicerie" (grocery store, also " corner shop") in La Roche by his deceased grandfather . sur-Yon inherited. Over the decades, he slowly but steadily transformed the small family business into the areas of supermarkets, logistics and air transport. Groupe Dubreuil is now managed by his son Paul-Henri Dubreuil (* 1971).

Entry into aviation

The entry into aviation came in 1975 when Dubreuil started the former regional airline Air Vendée and in 1992 it merged with Regional Airlines , which he also founded . The newly established regional airline quickly became known and popular in France as "Air Régional". For the first time in France, it mainly offered cross-connections within the hexagon with Clermont-Ferrand airport as a hub , and not via Paris as is usual . Of course, this was not well received by Air France in the long run; so it happened that Air Régional was later sold to the national company, where it ended up in the low-cost airline Hop! rose.

With the proceeds from the sale of Air Régional, Jean-Paul Dubreuil went to the Caribbean and in 2000 bought the local airline Air Guadeloupe , which he renamed Air Caraïbes . It initially only served flight destinations within the Lesser Antilles , i.e. between Guadeloupe and Martinique , as well as to Cayenne ( French Guiana ). The transatlantic route finally brought the breakthrough in 2003. Initially with the Airbus A330 and since 2017 with the A350 , flights to Paris-Orly Airport have been made .

The expansion of Groupe Dubreuil suffered a setback at the end of 2015 because the planned takeover of the loss-making French holiday airline Corsair by the German travel group TUI failed. Just one year later, the group added French Bee (formerly French Blue ), a new company to its air division, Air Caraïbes' little sister. To this day, French Bee is the first and only French low-cost airline on long-haul routes.

Portfolio of 7 companies

Today Groupe Dubreuil operates as a holding company for a total of seven companies: Sales of automotive parts, first for BMW and later with Peugeot as a partner, new and used machines, mineral oil and food, equipment for retail, airlines, as well as hotel and commercial properties. The group's activities mainly cover the regions on the Atlantic coast of France.
