Location and relics

On the way from Herrenstrunden to Herkenrath , behind the village of Asselborner Hof, a traffic sign indicates that the 30 km zone has ended. In the left-hand bend that follows you can go west along a meadow over the Asselborn brook and into a beech forest. Once at the top of the mountain, keep a little north and after a few meters stand in the middle of the Idazeche pit. Several, partly larger pings can be seen here, which indicate earlier opencast mines . East adjacent to the pit box Idazeche the pit box Gagern covered with several Schurfstellen between Herrenstrunden, Untertal, Obertal and Bölinghoven . About 300 m southwest of the Bölinghoven farm there are some pings on the hill in the forest, which also go back to earlier opencast mines.
