The Grundbach is a creek in northeastern Baden-Württemberg of almost 5 km length, which flows into the Jagst from the left at the Lobenhauser Mühle .

geography

Source and history

The Grundbach arises about 0.8 km north-northeast of Saurach in the Gewann Sauerlachen or wood parts on the boundary of the Crailsheim district Triensbach, by two meadow ditches from the north and south at about 438  m above sea level. NN flow together. Around there, between the groves of Schlund in the north, Eichwasen (already on the Kirchberger district) in the southwest and the western foothills of Rainholz of the extensive forest area on the Reußenberg in the southeast, there is a sinkhole and two wetlands in the Gipskeuper , the larger of which is the southern of the confluent ditches. The resulting stream soon turns north and then flows west and then north past Triensbach. Before he turns to the northeast and crosses under the A 6 , he takes the Hinteren Bach from the north of the Reußenberg on the outskirts . In the now noticeable hollow it passes the castle and hamlet of Erkensbrechtshausen in the north-west, taking in the Rotbach from the right and then entering its steep and soon wooded limestone blade . In it, after turning north, he takes up the Weilersbach from the left and changes from the Crailsheim area to the Kirchberg. Less than 200 m further, it reaches the old Lobenhausen Jagstschlinge and soon after a total of 4.8 km it flows about 250 m east of the Lobenhauser Mühle and below the ruins of Lobenhausen Castle at 355.3  m above sea level. NN from the left into the Jagst.

Catchment area

The Grundbach has a catchment area of 6.9 km². In the north and northeast it borders on the Jagst itself, in the southeast on that of the Schmiedebach , in the south in the Reußenberg briefly on that of the Schwarzlachenbach flowing to the Maulach and then on that of the Maulach itself. In the southwest the Schmerach competes with its tributaries and in the northwest finally the Herboldshauser Bach .

Landscape and land use

From its formation to the beginning of its blade from Erkenbrechtshausen, the Grundbach runs in an open landscape in which agricultural use dominates, apart from the immediate valley basin in which the grassland predominates. In his gorge he is accompanied by a hillside forest, at Lobenhausen he steps into the open corridor again for a short distance and then runs through the hillside forest towards the Jagst.

Localities

Except for the last 1.1 km of its course, on which it flows through the area of the city of Kirchberg , the Grundbach runs entirely on that of Crailsheim . Of the catchment area, only about 0.5 km² belong to Kirchberg, the rest to Crailsheim. In the Kirchberg area, only the Lobenhausen Schlossberg with rudiments of Lobenhausen Castle drains to the Grundbach . All other settlement areas in the catchment area - Triensbach, Erkenbrechtshausen and Weilershof - belong to Crailsheim.
