Guido Marini (born January 31, 1965 in Genoa , Italy ) is master of ceremonies for the Pope's liturgical celebrations .

Life

After graduating from high school, Guido Marini studied Catholic theology at the Archbishop's Seminary in Genoa.

He was ordained a priest on February 4, 1989 , after which he received his doctorate in civil law and canon law at the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome and in 2007 received a bachelor's degree in communication psychology from the Pontifical Salesian University .

From 1988 to 2003 he was personal secretary of the following Archbishops of Genoa: Cardinal Giovanni Canestri (until 1995), Cardinal Dionigi Tettamanzi (until 2002) and Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone .

Under the Cardinals Tettamanzi and Bertone as well as under Archbishop Angelo Bagnasco he was ceremonial and editor of the liturgical books and founder of the "Collegium Laurentianum", a voluntary association for order and visitor service in the cathedral .

From 2003 to 2005 he was director of the education and school department in the Archbishop's Curia with a focus on Catholic religious instruction .

From 1996 to 2001 he was an appointed member of the diocesan council of priests . After he was appointed Chancellor of the Archbishop's Curia in 2005, he became a member by virtue of the office of the same Priestly Council and through the office of Secretary also a member of the Episcopal Council.

From 1992 he taught canon law at the Northern Italian Faculty of Theology, Genoa Department, and at the University of Religious Studies , where he also gave seminars in theology of ecclesiastical office.

In 2002 he was appointed cathedral capitular of the Cathedral of San Lorenzo , of which he was dean from 2003 to 2007. From 2004 to 2007 he also held the office of spiritual at the Archbishop's Seminary in Genoa.

On October 1, 2007, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . to succeed Archbishop Piero Marini as ceremonial of the liturgical celebrations of the Pope after he had made him Honorary Prelate of His Holiness on September 29, 2007 .
