Guido Pozzo (born December 26, 1951 in Trieste ) is a Curia Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Church .

Life

Guido Pozzo received on September 24, 1977 for the Diocese of Trieste , the ordination . He did his doctorate with Karl Josef Becker . Since May 4, 1987, he was a collaborator in the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith under Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger . The theologian is also a professor at the Pontifical Lateran University and until 2009 assistant secretary of the International Theological Commission . Pope Benedict XVI appointed secretary of the Ecclesia Dei Pontifical Commission . him on July 8th, 2009, the same day on which the Pope with the Motu proprio Ecclesiae unitatem restructured the commission and assigned it to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.

Monsignor Pozzo led the talks between Vatican theologians and representatives of the Society of St. Pius X. from October 26, 2009 until 2012 with the aim of rapprochement. He is co-author of the instruction Universae Ecclesiae published on May 13, 2011 for the execution of the Motu proprio Summorum Pontificum .

On November 3, 2012, Benedict XVI appointed him. the Titular Archbishop of Balneoregium and ordered him to the Pontifical chaplain . He was ordained episcopal by Cardinal Secretary of State Tarcisio Bertone SDB on November 17th of the same year in the Basilica of San Lorenzo in Damaso ; Co- consecrators were Archbishop Gerhard Ludwig Müller and Archbishop Giampaolo Crepaldi , Bishop of Trieste .

On August 3, 2013, Pope Francis reappointed him as secretary of the Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei. He held this office until the Ecclesia Dei Commission was dissolved in January 2019. On February 6, 2016, Pope Francis appointed him a member of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints .
