Guillaume-Marie-Romain Sourrieu (born February 27, 1825 in Aspet , France , † June 16, 1899 in Rouen ) was Archbishop of Rouen and Cardinal .

Life

Sourrieu studied at the Seminary of the Archdiocese of Toulouse and received on 17 October 1847, the priestly ordination . After initially working in Toulouse, he later became chaplain of the Rocamadour shrine.

Pope Leo XIII. on September 25, 1882 confirmed Sourrieu's election as Bishop of Châlons . He was ordained bishop on November 30th of the same year by Pierre-Alfred Grimardias , Bishop of Cahors . Co- consecrators were Odon Thibaudier , Bishop of Soissons , and Pierre Henri Lamazou , Bishop of Limoges . On May 21, 1894, Sourrieu became Archbishop of Rouen.

In the consistory of April 19, 1897 Leo XIII took him. as Cardinal Priest of San Clemente to the College of Cardinals . Cardinal Sourrieu died in June 1899 and was buried in the Cathedral of Rouen.
