Gustav Adolph von Sydow

Gustav Adolph von Sydow (* 15. October 1715 in Blumberg , Pomerania , Pomerania , † 13. February 1772 ) was a Royal Prussian major general and chief of the garrison regiment Nr.V .

His parents were the Prussian lieutenant colonel Jürgen (Georg) Heinrich von Sydow (June 1, 1661 - July 24, 1725) heir to Blumberg , and his wife Freiin Eleonore von Pufendorf (1674 - October 15, 1723) a daughter of Chancellor Esaias von Pufendorf . His brother was Carl Friedrich von Sydow Land Director of Western Pomerania.

He joined the Prussian army in 1724 . In 1730 he became a private corporal in Regiment No. 23 . On May 8, 1735 he was ensign there and on December 25, 1738 second lieutenant. In the First Silesian War he fought near Mollwitz . On October 6, 1741 he became a captain and company commander in Garrison Regiment No. 5, where he became a major on July 9, 1742 and a lieutenant colonel on October 29, 1747. On September 10, 1747, he was transferred as a commander to Garrison Regiment No. 10 . During the Seven Years' War he became a colonel on January 4, 1759 and on February 18, 1759 chief of Garrison Regiment No. 5. On June 3, 1759 he was promoted to major general. After the war on September 19, 1763 he was resigned and from June 30, 1770 he received a pension of 200 thalers. He died on February 13, 1772 and was buried on February 17, 1772 in the garrison church of Berlin .

His first wife was Anna von Wulffen , and he divorced her because of infidelity. The woman then married the rider of the cuirassier regiment No. 5 Gottlieb Meyer, and after his death the musketeer Troschkala of infantry regiment No. 31.

On February 5, 1744 he married Eva Beate von Maxen (* September 18, 1706; † July 21, 1779 in Schwedt) widow of Alexander von Schlichtig on Cunow and had several children.
