Gustav Brandes (medical doctor)
Gustav Brandes (born September 21, 1821 in Hanover ; † December 14, 1880 ibid) was a German physician and author .
Life
Born in the royal seat of the Kingdom of Hanover , Gustav Brandes studied medicine at the University of Göttingen and at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-University of Berlin and also went on study trips . In 1845 he settled in his hometown as a surgeon and as a specialist in mental illnesses . In 1847 he became city physician "and soon afterwards head of the municipal hospital in Linden, which was inaugurated in 1833 ".
Gustav Brandes initiated the expansion of the hospital in Linden and the takeover of the auxiliary hospital built on the Bult during the Franco-German War . In the interest of improving hygienic conditions , he was committed to building a slaughterhouse and expanding the water supply network .
